At Emmanuel Church we stand together in love and solidarity with our many Jewish friends and neighbours in West Hampstead and beyond. This is especially and poignantly so on Holocaust Memorial Day each year. We stand with the Jewish community and with all those other groups whose lives were cruelly and savagely taken in the Holocaust and in genocides and ethnic cleansings before and since.
2020 saw the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and the 25th anniversary of the Bosnian genocide. Members of Emmanuel Church were present at Holocaust Memorial commemorations at Hampstead and South Hampstead Synagogues (where Fr Jonathan was invited to light one of the memorial candles) and at the JW3 Centre on Finchley Road and were deeply moved to receive invitations to these events.
